Training & Support

Training is essential to working with children from hard places. The state requires that all foster and adopt families have 35 hours of pre-service training. You also need 20 hours annually after licensing to maintain your license.

Trauma Informed Training

Trauma can impact the brain in so many ways. For our kids, that means using behaviors to communicate needs. Parenting using a trauma informed approach can be different than what most of us are accustomed to and takes time to understand. The more we are equipped with tools to better ourselves as parents, the more tools we are giving these children to help them succeed in life.  You will need to complete all of your pre-service training through the agency you choose, but here are some options for additional training that you can receive outside of what is required.
