CASA of Travis County

More Info:

CASA of Travis County speaks up for children who’ve been abused or neglected by empowering our community to volunteer as advocates for them in the court system. When the state steps in to protect a child’s safety, a judge appoints a trained CASA volunteer to make independent and informed recommendations in the child’s best interest. After 39 hours of intensive training and courtroom observation, background checks and being sworn in by a judge, volunteers are appointed to a child or family of children and spend an average of 15-20 hours a month advocating for these children for at least a year. Created in 1985, CASA of Travis County is now one of the top ten CASA programs in the nation, supporting nearly 750 volunteers who advocate for almost 1,850 children a year.

    Jillian

  • “The growth that has happened in the six weeks we've had the kids is huge. It motivates us to keep going.”

    Matt

  • “…fostering is about more than kids.  It's about caring for the biological family and having compassion for their circumstances.”

    Jessica

  • “We need people that are willing to go the extra mile. Just having someone that we can call and talk to when we are having a bad day or someone just to have as an emergency contact.”
