Foster and Adoption Info Session Frequently Asked Questions

What is Region 7?

The state of Texas has 11 different regions that serve the needs of foster children. Foster Community assists Region 7, which covers foster care in Austin and surrounding counties in Central Texas. Region 7 counties include: Bastrop, Bell, Blanco, Bosque, Brazos, Burleson, Burnet, Caldwell, Coryell, Falls, Fayette, Freestone, Grimes, Hamilton, Hays, Hill, Lampasas, Lee, Leon, Limestone, Llano, Madison, McLennan, Milam, Mills, Robertson, San Saba, Travis, Washington, and Williamson. If you live outside of these counties, contact DFPS for an information meeting in your area.

I live outside of Region 7. Can I still attend Foster Community’s info session?

Anyone is welcome to join Foster Community’s online information meeting, but the information is specifically tailored to Region 7 counties. Each region has its own guidelines and local child placing agencies, so it may be beneficial to locate an info session in your area. Check with DFPS for more information.

Who hosts the foster care and adoption info sessions?

Foster Community hosts the information sessions and our child placing agency partners give insightful presentations on a rotating basis. Learn more about our valuable partners here.

What can I expect?

Foster community hosts free, online information meetings twice per month via Zoom. The meeting begins with a slide show presentation guided by our child placing agency partners. You will learn about the general guidelines of the foster care and adoption licensing process. The presentation is followed by a Q & A with the child placing agencies. The next morning, all attendees receive an email with helpful, get-started resources.
