Have you ever wanted to know what goes into making decisions about child abuse and neglect at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services? This free presentation will give you vital information on recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect in Texas. We will discuss the definitions and types of abuse and neglect according to the Texas Family Code. We will also discuss the signs and symptoms of child abuse. The presentation will detail the prevalence of child abuse in Texas and the basics of reporting to Statewide Intake (the Abuse Hotline).

Foster Community invites you to an Informational Session on Thursday, March 21st from 6 to 8 pm at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, 12800 Lexington St. in Manor to learn more about Foster and Kinship Care.

If you’ve ever considered becoming a foster or adoptive parent, caring for the children of a relative, mentoring a teen,  babysitting for a foster family or providing weekend care for a foster or adoptive child then this meeting will help get you started!

A Kinship Care Specialist will be in attendance to answer questions for those who might be asked to care for the child of a loved one.

This session is free and open to the public.

Matching families with support through partnerships between churches, child welfare agencies, and community resources. This group is a faith-based initiative seeking cultural and denominational diversity to improve relationships between churches and organizations in a collaborative effort to support children and sustain families. The Care Portal is a tool we utilize to better connect us with our partners to serve families in our community.
